Joseph M. Borgesen, a lifelong resident of Southeastern Michigan in Oakland County, has contributed to his community thru both aviation and building development activities. After attending Lawrence Technological University and Oakland University he embarked on a career in commercial development with a local firm. In 1973, Mr. Borgesen was introduced to the world of general aviation and obtained his Private Pilot license within a few years. In 1983, Mr. Borgesen formed his own company which became a diversified group of business; including airport facilities development, aviation training, aircraft leasing, aircraft management and maintenance. With this small firm and a commitment to high standard and customer service the future was set for growth. Mr. Borgesen has grown his market share to become one of the largest full service general aviation companies in the region, that being Oakland Air. Mr. Borgesen currently oversees the operation and business development of the Oakland Air business units, is an ATP rated pilot with over 6000 hours of flight experience acting as Director of Operations for Oakland Air Charter. H is a member of the NBAA, NATA, MBAA. AOPA, Cessna Pilot Association, and Waterford Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Oakland County Business Transportation Round Table.
David A. Lussier, joined Oakland Air in 2006 as General Manager. Mr. Lussier brings over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry. He is responsible for day to day operations of the Oakland Air FBO facility located at the Oakland County International Airport. His responsibilities include oversight and coordination of the fixed based operations, charter and aircraft management, and aircraft maintenance departments. Prior to joining Oakland Air, Mr. Lussier was with Landmark Aviation and served the chain as its General Manager in Raleigh, North Carolina. During his tenure with Landmark Aviation, Mr. Lussier was instrumental in the design and construction of 90,000 sq ft hangar and 12,000 sq ft of a first class office space development at the airport. At the time of his relocation to Oakland Air, Landmark Aviation in Raleigh was the third largest and most profitable location within the Landmark chain of 33 FBO’s. Mr. Lussier’s previous experience in the aviation industry involved FBO’s in South Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania starting as a line service technician working his way thru the system with hard work and dedication pushing him rapidly into operations and management. With this training and insight into the inner workings of FBO business Mr. Lussier has a unique knowledge on both the customer service aspects of the industry as well as the financial aspects of running an efficient, safe, and effective organization. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Aviation Trades Association, and as Chairman for the North Carolina Business Aircraft Association. He is currently a member of NATA, NBAA, and has been on the Oakland County Transpiration Committee.
Maria Plantus – Accounting Manager: Maria was born in Romania and raised from the age of eight years old in Livonia, Michigan. Maria Plantus has fulfilled the role of Accounting Manager at Oakland Air since 2009. She originally began as an assistant, part-time bookkeeper in 2004 and gradually took sole responsibility for all of Oakland Air’s Accounting and Human Resources departments. She has a vast knowledge of all accounting functions including accounts receivables, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger and financial reporting for all departments including FBO services, Charter services, and the Maintenance department. During her tenure, Maria was critical and in charge of the implementation of Total FBO software system. Complementing her professional duties, Maria is looked at as one of Oakland Air’s most positive and uplifting personalities. Maria attended University of Michigan pursuing a degree in accounting. She is a resident of Clarkston, MI and enjoys spending time camping and traveling in Northern Michigan with her three teenage children and wonderful husband.
